Shivratri Mela

At the foot of Girnar mountain (Talati) in month of MAHA 9 starts on mela for next five days. About ten thousand people visit.

Girnar Prikrama

Starts from kartik 11 to 15 thousand people. The periferi of Girnar hills on foot about 40 km. Enjoy the religious and natural beauty.

Sakkarbaug Zoo

oldest in Gujarat 3rd oldest in India. Gir lions are bred and supplied to other zoos. Museum - In the same premises of zoo. Rare specimens of art furniture, stuffed animals, ancient coins, Persian Sanskrit inscriptions and various other articles of interest.

Makabara

Girnar The Mountain

5 km. From the junagadh city has five principle peaks. Third one GORAKHNATH is highest at 3661 ft above sea level. The area of hills is approx 100 km. To ascend the hills a stepaway is build UPPER KOT certainly worth seeing jain tamples. Spots to visit Bhimkund, Satpuda, Gaumukhi Ganga, Pathar chati, Bhairavjap, Bharatvan Sheshavan, Hanumandhara. The peak of Ambaji height 3330ft. famous temple of Ambaji. The Gorakhnath peak – the highest peak of Girnar mountain. Kamandal kund; stepway diverts between Gorakhnath and Datatray. Datatray - The path is difficult on the top of the peak is small temple on the padukas of Guru Datatray.

Sasan Gir

The Gir National Park and wildlife sanctuary is located about 65 km south east in the Junagadh district of Gujarat. Gir National Park is one of the India’s finest wildlife sanctuaries located in Gujarat. This national park is set up in an area of 1412 square km. of lush deciduous forests. This national park was established on 18th September 1965 as a Forest Reserve to conserve the Asiatic lion. This sanctuary is the final refuge of the rare Asian lions which roamed freely two centuries ago throughout Middle East and some parts of India. Sasan, with a forest rest house, is the headquarters of the sanctuary.

Datar Hills

Near the dam, the steps go up to 2,779 feet (847 m) high to the famous shrine of Jamiyalshah Datar, where both Hindu and Muslim devotees share their faith.

It is situated 2km away from Junagadh, which is both district & sub-district headquarter of Datar Hills village.





Narsinh Mehta Choro

This place is believed to be the place where the great devotee poet and Saint Narsinh Mehta (15th Century) had seen the paradise and dance (Raas) of Lord Krishna with Radha. Narsinh Mehta was a great spiritual poet of Nagar community. As he used to visit houses of untouchables (Harijans – as he called them) to sing his Bhajans, his community fellows put him out of community. It is said that he had real vision of Lord Shiva, who took him to Vainkunth and showed him Raas Leela of Lord Krishna and Radhaji. He used to visit Damodar Kund early in the morning singing his poems (Prabhatiya). The famous poem “Vaishnavjan To Tene Re Kahiye Je Pid Parayi Jane Re…” which was favourite Bhajan of Mahatma Gandhi was originally written by Narsinh Mehta.

Jain Temple in Junagadh

Situated on the first plateau of Mount Girnar at the height of about 3000 steps, these temples of Jainism have marvelous carvings in marble, which can be compared to those of Delwada near Mount Abu. Junagadh city also has a small Jain Derasar in Jagmal Chowk near Uparkot Fort.

Swaminarayan Temple

Junagadh is a prime place of pilgrimage for the believers of Swaminarayan sect of Hindu religion. Four temples at Junagadh, Gadhada, Vadtal and Bhuj were built and established by Lord Swaminarayan himself for spread and growth of religion. The temple is managed by the managing committee comprising of Kothari Swami and other prominent Hari Bhakta’s. The temple is about 200 years old.

Willingdon Dam

The dam is built on the river Kalwa at the foot of the hill from where it originates. It was built as a reservoir for drinking water for the people of Junagadh. It was named after Lord Willingdon, the then Governor of India.
